  1. First Session: Introduction and storytelling with Laurie Shigekuni sharing her family's history of wartime incarceration and its influence on her values. Mochi will be served, and attendees are encouraged to share their personal journeys.

  2. Second Session: Russell Jeung (co-director at AAPI Stop Hate), Pastor Al Tizon, and local lawyers discuss the interplay of storytelling, advocacy, and community building, including historical Japanese American narratives that can be brought into the modern day.

  3. Third session: Interactive crafting workshop on the Japanese tradition of "Okurimono," emphasizing the act of gift-giving. We have several ideas about Japanese handicrafts, but will be actively creating a cloth gift wrapper called a “furoshiki” and will be crocheting flowers and other decorations to embellish the furoshikis.  The goal is to have a product to post, an idea to popularize and a project that can be done with repurposed items.

  4. Fourth Session: Guidance on goal setting, spiritual growth, and resilience techniques for managing stress and adversity.

The summer series will culminate in an October event, "Okagesama de," showcasing insights and projects from the sessions.
